This policy explains how The Earners Group Proprietary Limited (“Earners Group”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects personal information in connection with EarnersApp and this website.
1. Scope and responsibility
This policy applies to customers, sellers, business representatives, visitors and other individuals who use or interact with EarnersApp. The Earners Group Proprietary Limited, registration BW00009669862, is responsible for the platform information described here, subject to the roles of independent sellers and service providers.
2. Information we may collect
- Account data: name, phone number, email, country, identity or passport details, recovery and verification status.
- Seller and business data: selfie or profile photo, business records, categories, ownership and authorised-representative information.
- Marketplace data: requests, listings, bids, promotions, orders, chats, receipts, fulfilment records, ratings and complaints.
- Location data: pickup, destination, service location and approximate or precise device location when a feature requires it and permission is granted.
- Payment data: method, amount, currency, provider or bank reference, status, wallet entries, rewards, withdrawals and risk indicators. Card credentials are intended to be collected by approved payment providers, not stored in ordinary EarnersApp fields.
- Technical data: device, session, IP address, app version, security events, logs and diagnostic information.
3. How we use information
- Register, authenticate and manage profiles.
- Match requests with relevant sellers and provide location-dependent features.
- Create, administer and support marketplace transactions.
- Verify identities, prevent fraud, enforce rules and meet legal obligations.
- Process and reconcile payments, wallet entries, commissions, rewards and withdrawals.
- Respond to support, complaints, disputes and safety reports.
- Maintain, secure, analyse and improve the platform.
- Send service messages and, with any required consent, promotional communications.
4. Grounds for processing
Depending on the context and applicable law, we process information to perform a contract, take requested pre-contract steps, comply with legal duties, pursue legitimate platform and security interests, protect users, or act on consent. Where consent is the basis, it may be withdrawn, although prior lawful processing remains valid.
5. When information may be shared
We may share relevant information with independent sellers or customers involved in a transaction; banks, payment providers and payout partners; identity, fraud, hosting, communication and analytics service providers; professional advisers; regulators, courts or law-enforcement bodies where legally required; and a successor in a lawful corporate transaction. We limit sharing to what is reasonably necessary for the purpose.
6. International processing
EarnersApp may use providers or support transactions outside Botswana. Where information is transferred across borders, we seek appropriate contractual, security and legal safeguards suitable to the transfer and provider relationship.
7. Retention
We retain information for as long as needed to operate accounts and transactions, meet financial and legal recordkeeping duties, manage disputes, protect the platform and enforce agreements. Retention periods vary by record type, jurisdiction and unresolved obligation. Information may be preserved longer where a lawful hold, investigation or dispute requires it.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to reduce unauthorised access, alteration, loss or misuse. No system is risk-free. Users must protect passwords and recovery codes, keep devices secure and report suspected compromise promptly.
9. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability or information about our handling of your personal data. 10. Children
EarnersApp is not intended for children under 18 to independently enter marketplace or financial transactions. We may remove or restrict an account where age requirements are not met.
